Today in 1977 the TV mini-series 'Roots,' began airing on ABC. The show was based on the Alex Haley novel. Although it is a little dated looking at times now it was a landmark show and one of the first widely received dramatisations of the slave trade.Also on a less historical note the A team debuted on television on this day in 1983, I loved the A team growing up, Murdoch was my favourite.
