Today in 1618 Sir Walter Raleigh was beheaded under a sentence that had been brought against him 15 years earlier for conspiracy against King James I.Raleigh was a busy chap he was an English aristocrat, writer, poet, soldier, courtier, spy, and explorer. He is also largely known for popularising tobacco in England (thanks for that).
