An all-white jury in the southern US state of Alabama convicted three Ku Klux Klansmen over the murder of white civil rights activist Viola Liuzzo (pictured) today back in 1965. This was a major leap forward for civil rights in the USA.Despite its dubious heritage the KKK is still sporadically active in parts of the USA.
